Sunday September 21
We are up and running at Second Baptist Church. We will be having Sunday School and Church on Sunday morning. We will also start Children's choir at 6:00 pm Sunday night. Awana will resume this week and things are starting to get back to normal.
We do have a special group of people staying at our church right now. They are the disaster relief team from Kentucky. They will be cooking meals for the surrounding areas. They have taken over the gym and some of our parking lot, but don't let that keep you from coming to worship with us on Sunday morning!

Soon!
SBC is still without power Wed. night at 9:30, but we are hopeful that before the end of the week we will have power! We will be having a clean up day on Friday morning and Saturday to take care of the exterior of our building. If you are available I know we could use your help! It is very important that we work together during this time to make our church ready for Sunday services.
If everything is up and running for Sunday we will start Choir practice at 6:00! Please spread the word!

Not sure
Randy and I are still evacuated due to no power at our home. If we have school on Wednesday and the church has power and water we will have Awana, but I am not think it looks very likely. I will post another update on this site as soon as I know.

Update
New Awana books are here! T&T Book 3 will be given out on Wednesday for those that have earned them. Please bring the money to pay for them.
Sparks Hangglider books are here too. These have taken the place of Hiker, but only for new Sparks. Those still in Hiker will finish their book, but the new clubbers will get the Hangglider.
As of RIGHT NOW (9:30 Tuesday morning) Awana is ON for Wednesday, but there will be an update on the website. If Angleton is given the mandatory evacuation then there will be NO Awana....It's just a wait and see!
Hope to see you Wednesday!
Don't forget that children's choir starts at 6:00 on Sunday night - again if we are here!

First Awana, choir, and book marks
Our first Awana club went really well on Wednesday night. We had at least 50 kids, I didn't take a count, but I'm pretty sure every chair was filled. I'm hoping to grow this year, but right now we still need more leaders, so I'm glad we weren't bigger.
This month we will be going over the 3 and 5 count each week. Ask your child about it if you don't know what that is.
On September 24 we will have bandana night. Wear a bandana in a creative way!
Also, on September 14 at 6:00 children's choir will start. We will be learning the musical called "Christmas County Spelling Bee". It's got great music and a great story line! I hope every child will join us each week. The performance will be on December 14 at 6:00 pm!
Also starting this Sunday in Sunday school children will get a book mark with scripture to read each night of the week. Encourage your child by reading with them!
